Hummingbird at Iris, Pond, Juniper

Hummingbirds don't usually seem interested at all in irises, but they seem to adore these super-tall yellow ones that grow in our pond. (This is the first year we've had so many blooms.)

Today I happened to have my camera when this female came to feed and have a little drink from the pond.

My favorite picture is actually this one of the same hummingbird perched in one of the Hollywood Juniper trees near the pond.

  1. my purple and white striped Iris didn't bloom at all this year. I was so looking forward to it having multiplied over the winter and making more. Alas, seems to have gone the reverse direction. :(
I never thought to mark them off by color [all of mine are clustered into two main areas and were planted in clumps according to color, but by now it's a big crowded mass.] before the blooms were gone, otherwise I would have moved them to their own spot to be sure they had plenty of room to multiply. Alas...
